First (OH)NUG Virtual Event

Due to the restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, we were forced to change the Ohio Networking User Group aka (OH)NUG meeting to be a virtual meeting that we hosted on Zoom July 31st, 2020. Despite this, we carried on (with beer, of course) and for the last time presented the great debate between the Layer 2 Leaf Spine (L2LS) vs Ethernet Virtual Private Network (EVPN) datacenter architectures. As always, Chris Kane and Mitch Vaughan had a lot of fun with it and presented their respective “platform”. We put it to the (OH)NUG audience with a poll and it was close but the winner: Layer 2 Leaf Spine

We took a brief break to rearrange the room (and get more beer) for a panel discussion with Bill Blake, Phil Davis and Paul Browning to talk about network automation, the impact of cloud infrastructures on the network and how COVID-19 has changed things for the average network engineer. Great discussion with many insights!

For those that couldn’t attend, keep your eyes peeled for a recording of the event to be posted to the (OH)NUG site soon. Once it’s out, I’ll be sure to post it here as well.

Here’s hoping we see you at the next event, be it virtual or physical!
